Overview

After researching, we were unable to locate the building code adoption ordinance.

The State of Colorado will adopt the 2023 NEC on August 1st, 2023.

The Building Department intends to adopt the 2021 ICC Building Codes with an effective date of January 1st, 2024.

Routt County, CO adopts the following codes for unincorporated areas:

  • The International Building Code, 2018 edition, including Appendix Chapters C and J. Routt County, CO Resolution No. 2020-053(A) (adopted with amendments).
  • The International Residential Code, 2018 edition, including Appendix Chapters E and Q. Routt County, CO Resolution No. 2020-053(B) (adopted with amendments).
  • The International Existing Building Code, 2018 edition. Routt County, CO Resolution No. 2020-053(C) (adopted with amendments).

After researching, we were unable to locate the building code adoption ordinance.

For unincorporated areas Routt County, CO adopts the International Residential Code, 2018 edition, including Appendix E and Appendix Q. Routt County, CO Resolution No. 2020-053(B) (adopted with amendments).

Existing Buildings

Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.

After researching, we were unable to locate the building code adoption ordinance.

There is no mention of the adoption of Appendix J of the 2018 IRC.

Routt County has adopted The Property Maintenance Code, 2018 edition. Routt County, CO Resolution No. 2020-053(B) (adopted with amendments).
